Boxers Can't Dig Out Of First Half Hole Against Geoducks

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Pacific could not climb out of a 14-point hole they dug themselves against Evergreen State Saturday night, falling to the Geoducks 69-58 in women's basketball at the CRC Gymnasium.

The Boxers (0-2) struggled from the field in the opening 20 minutes, connecting on just 7 of 23 from the field.  The team bounced back in the second half, hitting 46.2 percent from the floor to finish at 38.8 percent (19-49) for the contest.  The Boxers were further hampered by 33 turnovers.

Alissa Nergaard (Fr., Covington, Wash.) led Pacific with 13 points.  Kandice McArthur (Jr., Post Falls, Idaho) added 12 points.  McArthur, Paige Jensen (So., Bemidji, Minn.) and Brittney Anderson (Jr., Missoula, Mont.) each had seven rebounds.

The Geoducks (1-2) earned their first win of the season by hitting 42.9 percent from the field (24-56) and making 19 steals.  Shavon Tate led the Geoducks with 21 points while Danielle Swain came off the bench to score 12.  Latifa Ward led all players with 11 rebounds.

The Boxers return home on Tuesday to face their third straight NAIA Division II Cascade Conference foe as they host Warner Pacific at 7 p.m.
