BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins senior forward Lynsday Burton scored 25 points and added five rebounds and two blocks in just 22 minutes of action to lead Johns Hopkins to a 100-46 victory over Salisbury Sunday afternoon at Goldfarb Gymnasium.  The win secured the Mike Durgala Tournament title for the Blue Jays, who won both of their games in the tournament and improve to 3-1 with the win.  Burton, who scored her 1,000th career point in an opening-round win against Wesley, grabbed tournament MVP honors with her 12-of-14 shooting performance in the win over the Sea Gulls.

Johns Hopkins and Averett both posted A 2-0 record in the tournament, but the Blue Jays earned the tournament title via tie-breaker.  Averett defeated Wesley, 57-43, in the other game on Sunday.

The Blue Jays hit 17-of-28 shots from the floor in the first half and broke open a close game with a 40-13 run over the final 16 minutes of the half.  Burton scored 18 of her 25 in the first half as she hit 9-of-11 shots before halftime.  Senior Siobhan Callanan added 12 of her 14 points in the first half as well and ignited the game-turning run with a jumper with 15:40 remaining that extended a 9-8 lead to 11-8.  The Blue Jays added 16 of the next 19 points, with Burton scoring eight points during the run, to push out to a 27-11 lead with more than nine minutes remaining in the half and the 'Gulls were never closer than 14 the rest of the game.

The hot shooting continued in the second half for Johns Hopkins as the Blue Jays connected on 18-of-28 (.643) shots from the floor and 13-of-14 from the line over the final 20 minutes.  Hopkins led by 50 or more for the last six minutes of the game and got 15 second-half points from freshman Katie Brooks to lead the way after intermission.

In addition to Burton and Brooks hitting double figures, the Blue Jays got 14 points from Callanan and 12 points and 10 rebounds from sophomore forward Alex Vassila.  All 11 Johns Hopkins players scored in the game and the Blue Jays set tournament records for most points scored (100) and highest field goal percentage (.625). Vassila joined Burton as Johns Hopkins representatives on the All-Tournament Team.

Salisbury never got untracked offensively and suffered from a poor shooting game that happened to coincide with one of the top shooting games in JHU history.  The Sea Gulls, who were led by Chante' McKinney's 18 points and six rebounds, hit just 16-of-67 (.239) shots from the floor, including just 1-of-16 from three-point range. McKinney grabbed a spot on the All-Tournament Team as well.

Johns Hopkins will return to action on Tuesday, November 23 when the Blue Jays travel to Haverford for a Centennial Conference game against the Fords.
