Led by Tournament MVP, junior Sarah Watson (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson), the Wittenberg Tigers rallied past North Park for a 70-64 victory in the championship game of the 2010 Adrian Tip-Off Tournament.

The win came less than 24 hours after the Tigers defeated Fontbonne in a first-round game and North Park had defeated the host team. Wittenberg heads back home for a tough match-up against Capital on Tuesday, Nov. 23, with a 2-1 record and a championship trophy in hand.

Watson was the catalyst in a game-changing 7-0 run in the late going, scoring five straight points before junior Lyndsey Clark (New Carlisle, Ohio/Tecumseh) added two free throws to change a 57-56 North Park advantage into a 63-57 Wittenberg lead. Watson scored seven of her game-high 26 points in a game-closing 14-7 run over the final 6:32.

Watson added a game-high 12 rebounds to the Tigers' cause. She was ably backed by senior Katherine Hueter (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Darby), who turned in a second straight tremendous all-around game with 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists. She also earned All-Tournament team honors. Clark added 13 points while hitting all four of her shots from the field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line, while junior Lauren Cassel (Columbus, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) chipped in four points, two assists and eight rebounds.

Wittenberg won the rebounding battle 38-33 and the Tigers limited their turnovers to just 17 for a second straight game. As a team, Wittenberg shot 44 percent from the field and 70 percent from the free throw line, a significant improvement over the previous night.
