Miles-Ferguson Caps Season with 31 Points in Knights 86-71 Win Over Skidmore

Potsdam, NY – Graduate student Ryan Miles-Ferguson recorded his third 30-point game of the season, netting 31 for the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team as the Golden Knights closed out the regular season with an 86-71 win over Skidmore College in Liberty League action Saturday afternoon at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights finished off the year with a 14-11 record and 8-10 mark in conference games, while Skidmore saw its mark fall to 4-20 and 2-16.

At the start of Saturday's game, the Knights found themselves in a nine-point hole after just two minutes, but quickly rallied back with nine straight points, capped by a Gabe Murphy 3-pointer that bounced in at the 15:36 mark. Skidmore regained the lead, only to watch the Knights go on an 11-0 run thanks to 3-pointers from Frankie Rainville and Ryan Miles-Ferguson, and the Green and Gold would never trail again. Clarkson pushed its lead to as many as 11 in the first half when Miles-Ferguson hit another 3-pointer at 11:16. Six minutes later, Clarkson led by 19 when Braeden Burns hit a pair of 3-pointers to put Clarkson up 44-25. Down the stretch, Skidmore chipped away to reduce the margin to 12, with Ian Bentley's layup in the waning seconds closing the first-half tally at 48-36.

Skidmore trimmed the margin to single digits on its first basket of the second half, but it would be fleeting for the Thoroughbreds. Clarkson went on a 15-2 run, which included five points in just a few seconds from Ryan Miles-Ferguson. On the break, Miles-Ferguson was fouled from behind and he went to the line for a pair of free throws. Clarkson was rewarded with the ball again on the flagrant, and Miles-Ferguson hit a 3-pointer from the wing to make it 63-41. Skidmore once again stayed in the contest, however, getting back to within 13 with five minutes to go. Jack Dalgety hit a big 3-pointer with just under four minutes to go to return the lead to 16 for Clarkson, and the Knights cruised from that point on.

Miles-Ferguson finished with 31 points, shooting 10-for-17 from the field with four 3-pointers, to go along with eight rebounds. Braeden Burns had a double-double coming off the bench, scoring 18 points with 11 rebounds. Finn Cork shot 8-for-11 from the field for 16 points, and Jack Dalgety chipped in 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting. Overall, Clarkson shot 52.4% from the field and 40.7% from beyond the arc.

For Skidmore, Aidan Roy led the team with 19 points. Ian Bentley was 5-for-10 from the field for 13 points and also snagged seven boards. Nick Padilla chipped in 14 points, shooting 5-for-9 from the floor.
