Vikings Appear Unstoppable in SAA

CONWAY, Ark. - Berry Vikings Men's Basketball (13-9 overall, 10-1 SAA) completed their last road game of the regular season with the defeat of Hendrix College (5-17 overall, 2-9 SAA) with a final score of 89-72.
In today's contest, Blake Campbell led with 19 points and 8 rebounds and Braxton Benham followed closely the way with 17 points and a stellar 6 assists.
The Vikings trailed 7-0 early in the game as the home team found some momentum. Senior Jordan Krueger put an end to that run with a four-point play from behind the arc and stand-out freshman Drew Winegarden tied the game at seven after another made three for Berry.
Now back in the game, Berry fell behind once more with points from the Warriors, but when Benham scored to take the advantage at 14-13, there was no coming back for Hendrix.
Benham's bucket started an 11-0 run to shock the Warriors and not allow any points for them in over two-minutes.
Halfway through the first, Hendrix climbed their way back within six, but Berry stepped back up and quickly pulled it back to a ten-point game (30-20).
Parker Godwin nailed the sixth first half three ball for the Vikings to hold their steady lead before halftime. Hendrix broke the ten point curse with a triple of their own as they began to make way back into the game bringing it as close as five (40-35) with 1:37 to go.
Second SAA leading scorer Blake Campbell ended the first with a layup at the buzzer to send the teams to the locker room, Berry up 46-37.
The Warriors opened the second half with a bucket and continued to fight to stay in the game for the next 20-minutes of play, but every time they would get within single digits, the Vikings just cranked it up a notch until at the halfway point they were up 11 with a jumper by Jacob Morgan (66-55).
A quick run in the next four minutes for Hendrix put them right back within six (70-64), the Vikings continued to answer the short-lived runs by the Warriors and as Benham scored his 17th point off a three, Berry was back at 79-66 and closed out the game pushing their winning streak to double digits (10).
Catch your Vikings back at home this Friday as they take on Centre at 8:00 PM ET.
