Boston, Mass.--Senior forward Ousmane Kourouma (Woonsocket, R.I.) scored 19 points and grabbed 20 rebounds for his 16th double-double of the season as Rhode Island College fell at UMass Boston, 64-50, in Little East men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS
UMass Boston 64, Rhode Island College 50
UMass Boston (6-14, 5-6 LEC)
Rhode Island College (13-7, 6-5 LEC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
• After trading buckets early in the contest, the Beacons would go on an 11-0 run over a 4:57 time span to take a 22-14 lead with 5:01 remaining in the first half.

• Two late layups by UMass Boston would boost the host's lead to 11, 31-20, as the two clubs went into the locker room for halftime.

• The second half was more back and forth action until a three-point shot by RIC junior guard Isiah McCallam (Orange, N.J.) would cut the Beacon's lead down to seven, 43-36, with 10:21 to go in the game.

• The Anchormen were unable to go on a run and further close the gap. Free throws by UMass Boston late in the game would ice the contest and help the Beacons split the season series with RIC.

• McCallam finished with nine points and eight boards.

• RIC struggled from long range, making just 3-for-21 (14 percent) from three-point range.
