Vikings Successful Against Concordia

BELTON, Tex. - Men's basketball captured a road win in Texas against Concordia in a back-and-forth affair, 88-83.

With nine lead changes throughout the game, the Vikings had to work all 40-minutes for this road victory.

Bryce Clark held four of the first six points for Berry and then a 7-0 run for Concordia left the team down five (11-6) within the first six minutes of the game. Braxton Benham provided a huge dunk that brought the game back within distance. The teams traded baskets for next five minutes until Blake Campbell and Jordan Krueger hit two triples in 30 seconds for a 21-17 lead.

Now it was time for Jacob Morgan to come alive on his way to twenty points. The final five minutes consisted of three of Morgan's six total threes for the game that gave his team a lead of 34-31 heading to halftime.

To start the second half, it took a minute and a half for Concordia to tie the game at 34 with a made three. They held that lead until Morgan struck again from behind the arc and Isaac Martin joined in on the fun on their way to an 8-0 run to begin to create more separation (50-42).

It did not take much more for the Vikings as they refused to be knocked down. The team held tight and strong on the defensive end forcing a few turnovers and converting those to points. The secret to success was from three. Berry shot a high 67% in the second half, nailing 10 of 15 that they fired up for 30 of their 54 second half points.

Concordia had no answer for the rain in New York as Berry claimed victorious before heading to the Holiday.
