Wolves Surge for 86-74 Victory over Bryant and Stratton

KEUKA PARK, N.Y.— Keuka College Men's Basketball won their second home game of the season on Friday night against Bryant and Stratton College-Rochester 86-74.

Keuka College (2-4, 0-0 Empire 8) was led by Christian Sage (Owego, N.Y. / Owego Free Academy) and Tyler Green (Sackets Harbor, N.Y. / Sackets Harbor) both putting up 18 points. Mason VanDeMortel (Newark, N.Y. / Newark) knocked down five threes for 15 points in the win.

Keuka College 86 vs. Bryant and Stratton-Rochester 74

Both teams got on the board early and the Green and Gold saw their first points from behind the arch by Will Tehan (Victor, N.Y. / Victor). After finding themselves down by seven midway through the first half, Keuka found some offensive momentum. Mason VanDeMortel scored the go ahead three pointer with 4:11 left in the half. The theme of the back-and-forth game continued as the lead changed hands eight times in the opening 20 minutes. VanDeMortel found the ball in his hands in the final seconds of the first half, scoring another three to tie the game 41-41 at the break.

Keuka continued to have offensive answers to Bryant and Stratton's baskets throughout the second half. Down by five, a fastbreak began with a VanDeMortel steal and an Alijah Ellis (Portsmouth, Va. / Indian River / Fork Union Military Academy) dunk to give the Wolves some life. A huge three pointer from Christian Sage with 4:30 left on the clock gave Keuka the lead that they would hold on to for the remainder of the game. The Wolves won their second game at home 86-74.

  • Friday was the first-ever meeting between the Wolves and the Bobcats
  • As a team, Keuka College hit 17 three-pointers. The mark ties for second-most in a game in program history
  • Tyler Green tied for the team lead in scoring while setting a new career-high in points
  • Mason VanDeMortel led the Wolves with eight rebounds and had a pair of blocks. The senior now has 63 blocks in his career, tying for tenth-most in program history
  • Mac Creek (Tampa, Fla. / Cambridge Christian) set a new career-high with six assists. Sage was right behind him with five and Mason VanDeMortel finished with four assists in the win
  • Keuka College won the battle on the boards, outrebounding the Bobcats 46-33. That led to a 21-3 advantage in second change points for the Wolves.
