Men's Basketball nets 95 points in home opening win over York (NY)

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson University men's basketball team opened its 2023-24 home slate in explosive fashion as the Mustangs (2-1) sank 14 three-pointers in a 95-72 win over York (NY) in the opening round of the Mustang Classic presented by the Marriott Owings Mills Metro Centre on Friday night.
 
With the win, Stevenson advances to play Immaculata who defeated Notre Dame of Maryland University 66-56 in the opening game.
 
Joey Lutz sank six three-pointers on eight attempts, going 7-for-9 from the field with a game-high 22 points. Ronald Ayers made 50 percent of his shots (6-for-12) for 17 points, while Cameron Smith had ten.
 
Off the bench, Mason Jones scored 13 points as the Mustang got 60 points off their bench in the win.
 
Leading 41-36 at intermission, the Mustangs broke the game open by scoring 54 points in the final 20 minutes and made nine threes on 18 attempts. The lead ballooned to 27 at one point in the second half.
