- The Lead: Led by four players in double figures, the MIT men's basketball team held off a late charge from Coast Guard as the Engineers defeated the Bears by an 86-83 final to sweep the regular-season series.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Engineers got off to a hot start and jumped to an 18-8 lead with 13:15 on the clock following a three-pointer by first-year Rome Delgado-Gonzalez (Miami, Fla.). The MIT lead swelled to as many as 15 at 32-17 after a jumper from sophomore Spencer Lin (Menlo Park, Calif.) before the Bears answered with a 14-5 run to pull within 37-31 with 1:06 remaining in the first.

- Capping that run was a three-pointer from Mitch Shettles for Coast Guard before the hosts again led by double digits at 42-32 following an MIT three by junior Luke Wagner (Austin, Texas). Bryce VanderWiere ended the first half scoring on a layup with three seconds left as the Engineers led 42-34 at the break.

- In the second half, MIT again led by as many as 15 twice in the period, including for the last time at 67-52 after a jumper from first-year Tim Minicozzi (Belmont, Mass.). Over the next 5:08, it was almost all Coast Guard as the visitors went on an 18-5 run to pull within two at 70-68 after six straight points by Cameron Brown.

- MIT continued to hold onto the lead at 74-70 before five straight points from the Bears put Coast Guard in front for the first time at 75-74 after a corner three by Trevor Parks. Minicozzi put MIT back in front on a three with 2:26 left and continued to lead 83-79 with just 20 seconds remaining.

- Declan Rooney hit one of two free throws to get the Bears back to within one possession, followed by a deep Shettles three that tied the game for the final time at 83-83. MIT inbounded the ball to Lin with just over eight seconds left as he took the ball the length of the court and converted a three-point play for the 86-83 lead. At the final second, Coast Guard's Ben Yagey got a good look off from three, but that shot bounced off the rim twice as MIT held on.
