Quakers Bounce Back with Win Over Royals

More news about: Guilford

The Guilford College men's basketball team faced the Eastern Mennonite University Royals. The 14th-ranked Quakers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they won 80-54.

Prior to the game, the team and Guilford College presented head coach Tom Palombo with a "600" jersey as the Quaker coach surpassed that win total early this season.

Jorden Davis paced the Quakers with 18 points while both Caleb Farrish and Myles Washington finished with 10 points.

Both teams missed their fist couple of shots until Julius Burch hit a jumper that kicked off a 12-2 run to open the game. Guilford (16-4, 9-2) showed its defensive prowess and efficient scoring slowly expand its lead. At the end of the first half, Gabe Proctor missed a three but Farrish tipped in the rebound at the buzzer to give GC a 21-point (40-19) advantage at the half.

Out of the halftime locker rooms, the Quakers did not let the Royals (5-15, 1-10) within 18 points. GC cruised to the 26-point win.

Tyler Dearman scored eight points with five assists, four rebounds and two steals while Burch finished with six points, seven boards and five assists. As a team, the Quakers scored 34 points in the paint and added 21 second chance points.

Guilford kicks off a three-game road stretch on Wednesday, February 1 at Ferrum College. Start time is set for 7:00 p.m.
