Milton Hits Seven Triples in Wolves Victory Over SUNY Geneseo

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — Keuka College senior Devin Milton (Opelousas, La. / Beau Chene) downed a career-high seven threes as the Wolves defeated SUNY Geneseo 76-55 at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center in a non-conference game on Tuesday night.

Milton finished the night with 25 points and nine rebounds to lead Keuka College (4-2, 1-1 Empire 8). Mason VanDeMortel (Newark, N.Y. / Newark) added four triples and 14 total points. Alijah Ellis (Portsmouth, Va. / Indian River / Fork Union Military Academy) added 11 points and Jaden Keasey (Newport News, Va. / Menchville) finished with seven rebounds in the win.

Keuka College 76 vs. SUNY Geneseo 55

Both teams eased into the game on Tuesday with Keuka College taking the early lead. Lorenzo Bicknese (Somers, N.Y. / Somers) hit an early three to give Keuka an 11-6 advantage. The Knights would tie the game a couple of times, but each time, the Wolves hit a three to take the lead. A six-point run was the largest of the half for Keuka when Will Tehan (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) and Jaden Keasey hit back-to-back threes to make it 22-16. The six-point lead was also Keuka's largest of the half. A late three by SUNY Geneseo gave the Knights a 34-33 lead with 1:11 left in the half. Mason VanDeMortel got a steal giving Keuka the final possession. VanDeMortel found Milton for a straightaway three in the final seconds to send Keuka to the locker rooms leading 36-34.

SUNY Geneseo scored the first five out of halftime to take a three-point lead. Milton tied it with a three but the Knights answered with another basket to make it 41-39. Keuka College tied it back up and 41 and then took a lead on a Milton three, but SUNY Geneseo answered right back with a three to make it 44-44 with just under 16 minutes left in the half. From that point, the Keuka College defense locked in. They allowed only one more field goal by the Knights for the rest of the game. The Wolves created separation with a 12-0 run midway through the half. Devin Milton hit a pair of threes to start the run and Keion Brooks (Titusville, Fla. / Home-Schooled) added a pair of baskets. A three by Geneseo ended the run with 9:11 left. It would be their last basket of the game. The Knights added to their total from the free throw line, but the Wolves had the game in hand. Keuka College would push their lead to as many as 23 on their way to the 76-55 victory.

  • Keuka College earned its first win over SUNY Geneseo since the 1995-96 season, snapping an eight-game winning streak for the Knights
  • The Wolves finished the game 15-33 as a team from three. It was the sixth-most threes in a game in program history. In total, six different Wolves made a three in the game
  • Keuka College also had elite shooting from the free-throw line. The Wolves were 13-14 from the charity stripe. 92.9% free throw shooting is the third-best in program history
  • Devin Milton's seven threes were a personal high and tied for second-most in a game in program history. It was most recently done twice by teammate Mason VanDeMortel last season
  • Mason VanDeMortel surpassed 400 points in his collegiate career on Tuesday, as did Alijah Ellis who hit the 200-point plateau for his college career
  • Keuka College out-rebounded the Knights 32-30. The Wolves are 3-0 on the season when out-rebounding their opponent

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves have a final game before the end of the semester. Keuka College will be on the road at Pitt.-Bradford on Friday, Dec. 9. The Wolves will look to avenge a loss to the Panthers last season. Following that game, the Wolves will be on break for finals and the holidays. The first game following will be on January 3, 2023, as Keuka hosts Nazareth College.
