BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Drew University men's basketball team engineered an incredible comeback while earning a 63-46 non-conference victory at Brooklyn College Wednesday evening.

The Rangers (6-1) rallied from 24 points down in the first half and wiped out a 16-point halftime deficit, overpowering the Bulldogs 43-10 in the second period.

Senior forward Howard McBurnie, Jr. led Drew with his third-straight double-double and his fourth of the season, posting season-highs of 16 points and 15 rebounds to go with five assists and three blocked shots. Junior guard James Anderson contributed a season-high 13 points and six rebounds while freshman forward David Musial posted eight points and nine rebounds. Senior forward Michael Kane also tallied nine points, and sophomore guard Papie Roberts dished out six assists without committing a turnover.

Elisha Park and David McFaddden scored 11 points apiece for Brooklyn (1-7).

The Bulldogs led 32-8 with 4:59 left in the first half, but that's when the Rangers embarked on their comeback. Roberts went 1-for-2 at the foul line, kicking off a 12-4 run to end the period. McBurnie, Roberts, and Musial each dropped in a lay-up to fuel a 7-0 surge before McBurnie converted again to make it 33-17. Kane continued the positive momentum for Drew when he drained a 3-pointer with seven seconds left to make it a 36-20 game at the break.

The second half was more of the same for the Rangers, who opened the stanza with 21 unanswered points, including 10 from Anderson. Junior guard Andrew Turco tied the game with a 3-pointer before Anderson gave Drew its first lead since the 17:56 mark of the first half, draining a 3 of his own with 12:39 remaining to make it 39-36. Kane completed the outburst when he knocked down a pair of free throws to put his team up by five.

Kayin Olajide stopped the bleeding for Brooklyn, which missed its first 11 field-goal attempts of the half, with a bucket that made it 41-38 with 11:34 left. But the Rangers would not let up defensively and blanked the Bulldogs for another five minutes. By that point, Drew's lead had reached double figures, and an 8-0 Ranger run put it out of reach. Turco converted a conventional 3-point play before a Musial put-back and a pair of Kane free throws made it 58-40 with 3:45 remaining. Drew would hold Brooklyn to a pair of foul shots and a lay-up the rest of the way.
