Men's Basketball Starts Season With a Win

More news about: Pitt-Greensburg

PITTSBURGH – There was a sour taste in the Bobcats mouths after dropping the season opener to Carlow in 2021. Pitt-Greensburg and second year head coach Chris Klimchock was able to get revenge on that loss tonight as the team defeated the Celtics 79-65. Senior Micah Jones led the scorers with 21 points while going 4 for 5 from three-point land. Jones also secured six rebounds and swiped two steals.

Reggie Priah, JoJo France and Jaylen Williams also scored in double figures for the Bobcats, with France and Priah scoring 13 and Williams hitting 11 respectively. The Bobcats were able to hit the boards, securing 46 rebounds. The team was able to play a little bully ball in the paint, with 34 of their points coming in the painted area.

Pitt-Greensburg was able to open the lead to 20 points midway through the second half and they kept their foot on the accelerator. One thing the Bobcats will want to clean up is that the team had 21 turnovers compared to just six assists.

Freshman Matthew Marichak got his first collegiate start and scored seven points while securing five rebounds as well. Priah played the most minutes on the team as he was on the floor for 34 of the 40 minutes played.

It will be a quick turnaround for Pitt-Greensburg as they will travel to Moon Township to play Division I Robert Morris tomorrow night. The game can be viewed on ESPN 3 and the ESPN App.
