Neumann Advances to Semifinals with Win over Marywood

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team defeated Marywood University 89-62 on Monday evening in Atlantic East Conference first round action.

 

Jalen Vaughns, who was named to the AEC Honor Roll this week, led the Knights with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Tony James and KJ Speller each netted 14 points. TJ Lewis added 10 points. Ryan Starr handed out five assists.

 

Tied at two early, Neumann scored 14 straight points to jump out to a 16-2 lead. Midway through the half, Marywood climbed back to within four, 25-21. The Knights took off over the rest of the first half and outscored the Pacers 28-7 to take a 52-28 lead at the break.

 

The Knights held a 20+ point lead throughout the second half. The final basket came with 15 seconds left when Jake Giles hit a three-pointer for the 89-62 final.

 

Neumann (19-7) will host Centenary on Wednesday evening in an Atlantic East Semifinal beginning at 7:00 PM.
