BELOIT, Wis. - Grinnell College's men's basketball team is enjoying its hottest run in a decade, and it couldn't have come at a better time as the regular season ticks away.

The Pioneers pulled away from Beloit College to earn a 104-84 Midwest Conference win Tuesday night, stretching the Pioneers' winning streak to nine games. That marks the most consecutive wins since the 2011-12 team started the season 11-0.

The victory pushes Grinnell to 9-4 in the league and nearly seals a spot in the four-team MWC Tournament. Grinnell, 15-6 overall, has three league games remaining over a four-day stretch and a win in any of those will punch the Pioneers' ticket to the tourney.

Grinnell beat Beloit for the 10th time in a row, a streak that dates back to the 2016-17 campaign.

The Pioneers rode a three-pronged offensive attack sparked by Adam Phillips '23, Patrick Simms '22 and Christian Brookens '22. Phillips had 18 points, going 4-of-7 from 3-point land and 6-of-6 on free throws. Simms and Brookens each added 16.

The performance was particularly satisfying for Brookens, who recorded a career-high point total after missing nearly the entire season due to injury. He was 4-of-6 from 3-point range and made all four free throws.

Aiden Gilbert '23 contributed 12 points. Morgan Walser '22 had six rebounds and Will Bebee '22 five steals, both career-highs. Simms and Gilbert added four assists apiece, as Simms moved up to 17th all-time at Grinnell with 194.

As in most of its wins, a big run propelled Grinnell to victory. Leading just 41-39 with 4:59 to go in the first half, Brady Vest '23 converted a jumper, Bebee sank two free throws, Will Lasater '25 swished a 3-pointer and Simms made a free throw to put the visitors ahead 49-39.

The Pioneers still led by 10, 51-41, at halftime and continued to roll in the final 20 minutes.

Grinnell travels to Mount Vernon Thursday to square off against MWC co-leader Cornell College. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.
