BROOKLYN – The nationally ranked No. 1 Yeshiva University men's basketball team remains undefeated this season thanks to a non-conference victory over Brooklyn College, 94-48, at the West Quad Center on Monday evening. The Maccabees (11-0) extend their winning streak to 47 games.

Yeshiva led the contest from wire-to-wire.

Leading the way for the Maccabees was senior Ryan Turell who scored a game-high 35 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and forced four steals. Graduate student Gabriel Leifer generated a triple-double with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. Junior Ofek Reef netted 18 points and snatched six boards, while classmate Matan Zucker recorded nine points, eight rebounds, and five assists off the bench. Sophomore Oren Betesh scored nine points and clutched three rebounds.

"I was impressed with our bench play tonight," Yeshiva University Head Coach Elliot Steinmetz said. "Good energy from Matan and Oren that helped us get going in both halves."

The Maccabees scored 14 unanswered points to take a commanding 23-8 hold, with 12:23 to go in the opening stanza, and never looked back. Turell hit two 3-point field goals, a layup, and a pair of free throws during Yeshiva's game-altering blitz.

YU put the game completely out of reach in the second half by going on a 19-1 run to pad its advantage to 70-34 with 8:57 left to play. Leifer began the run with a layup and Reef capped it off by taking a feed from Zucker and burying a shot from downtown. Yeshiva ended up winning the non-conference contest to remain unbeaten.

For the game, YU shot 58.1% from the field while holding the reigning CUNYAC Champion Brooklyn College to just 30.5% shooting. The Maccabees earned a decisive victory in the rebounding battle, 52-23.

No. 1 Yeshiva will return to the friendly confines of the Max Stern Athletic Center on Thursday evening against Washington College (Md.). Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
