Baruch Runs Past Hunter 103-79

The Baruch College Bearcats scored a season-high 103 points to defeat the Hawks of Hunter College 103-79 in the CUNYAC opening contest for both teams on Friday night at the Hunter Sportsplex.

The Bearcats trailed early 15-10 and were later tied at 22-22 with 8:11 left in the first half, but the offense kicked into high gear as the Bearcats ended the final eight minutes with a game-busting 26-8 run to lead 48-30 at halftime.

Mohamed Gueye totaled 14 points (6-for-9 fg) in the opening 20 minutes as the Bearcats shot 45 percent (19-for-42) compared to 27 percent (9-for-34) by the Hawks.

The visiting Bearcats kept control in the second half managing to lead at one point 94-65 en route to the road win.

Gueye led five-players in double-figure scoring as he finished with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Adnan Bajrami and Emil Purisic with 15 points each.

Liam Sanborn, who recently scored his 1,000th career intercollegiate point, scored 13 points and Michael Richards added 12 points.

The Hawks still scored 79 points, but fell below their season average of 109.2 points per game. Jeremy Montrose led the Hawks with 14 points.
