Rose-Hulman Men's Basketball Tops Albion in Season Opener

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's basketball kicked off the season with a win over Albion College 72-58.  The Fightin' Engineers outscored the Britons by 16 in the second half to earn the win. 

Albion led 32-30 at the halftime break, but Rose-Hulman relied on 50% shooting from the floor in the second half to outscore their opposition.  RHIT opened up the second half with a 14-3 run with seven points by Dillon Duff and four from Vuk Djuric.

Rose-Hulman had five players finish in double-digit scoring, led by Duff with 15 points on 5-9 from the field.  Djuric recorded 10 points and game-leading totals in rebounds (9) and assists (5) in 21 minutes.  Max Chaplin scored 12 points on 50% shooting from behind the arc, and Samvit Ram and Jackson Kabrick each tallied 11 points.

MJ Barnes from Albion finished with a game-high 21 points, and Cortez Garland chipped in 14.

The Fightin' Engineers shot 46% fromn the field and also hit 8-9 free throws in the contest.  Rose-Hulman handled the Albion pressure defense well by committing just nine turnovers in the contest.

Rose-Hulman men's hoops head to Arlington, Va. for the Marymount Tournament on November 20-21.  The team will battle Washington & Lee on Saturday and either Marymount or Ramapo on Sunday.
