Benedictine Men Complete Weekend Sweep

LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University men's basketball team pulled away in the second half to record a second straight weekend sweep, taking down Dominican at home.

The first half was a near mirror of Friday night with the game staying tight early
Making his first collegiate start, Marvin Agowomoh scored the first four points of the game and tallied eight of the first 10 points for Benedictine
With the contest even at 17-17 with just over 11 minutes to go in the half, Agwomoh struck for six consecutive points including a dunk as part of an 8-0 run that saw Benedictine gain some separation
Four straight points from Nate Shead pushed the lead to double figures at 32-19 in a 15-2 run
Benedictine led 42-37 at halftime, matching the margin from Friday
Agwomoh scored the first four Benedictine points of the second half as the lead reached 17
Nick Kosich hit a three-pointer with 13:14 left to push the margin to 21 points at 53-32
Dominican pulled no closer than 13 points the rest of the way

STAT LEADERS
Benedictine scored 48 points in the paint a night after tallying 60 and added 20 second-chance points
Benedictine took advantage of 20 turnovers by Dominican, resulting in 23 points
Benedictine shot 45.5 percent from the floor and held a 45-36 edge on the glass
Agwomoh, who scored just six points total in his freshman season, notched a game and career high 24 to go with eight rebounds
Freshman Trevor Montiel added 10 points and eight rebounds while Cade Ellingson notched 10 off the bench to go with six rebounds
The bench contributed 31 points in the win
Benedictine turned the ball over just nine times and totaled only 14 on the weekend
