CLAREMONTRyan Kaneshiro and the Tigers battled until the very end.

But despite playing terrific defense, Oxy's third consecutive trip to the SCIAC Postseason ended with a 60-50 loss at Pomona-Pitzer on Friday night.

Kaneshiro led Oxy's defense as the Tigers held the Sagehens to just 60 points and 32 percent shooting.

The problem was the Tigers struggled to score themselves, shooting 32 percent and 2 for 17 from the three. Pomona-Pitzer played great defense with its length and positioning, forcing the Tigers into tough shots.

Caleb Yellin-Flaherty got hot in the second half as Oxy tried to erase a 29-16 lead. He finished with 16 points on 6 for 13 shooting, along with eight rebounds, but fouled out with 5 minutes to go.

At that point, Oxy had Pomona's lead at 43-38, but coudn't get any closer.

Kaneshiro had 10 points, four rebounds and three assists, Jacob Adler had 12 points and seven rebounds, and Anthony Hollerich had 10 points off the bench.

Kaneshiro, Adler and Yellin-Flaherty were all named All-SCIAC on Thursday.

Oxy finishes the season 18-8 overall and went 10-6 in SCIAC play, finishing fourth in the SCIAC.

The Sagehens advance to the SCIAC Championship on Saturday night.
