Hope loses at Trine, will be No. 6 seed for MIAA Tournament

The Hope College men's basketball team is headed to next week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament.

The Flying Dutchmen will play a quarterfinal at Adrian College on Tuesday, February 25. Tipoff is 7 p.m.

On Saturday, Hope lost its regular-season finale at Trine University, 73-59. 

Forward Preston Granger recorded a double-double of a game-high 23 points and 13 rebounds for the Flying Dutchmen. The junior from Lansing, Michigan (Lansing Christian HS) shot 71.4 percent from the field (10-14).

Freshman guard Clayton Dykhouse of Zeeland, Michigan (Zeeland East) chipped in eight points.

Hope (12-13 overall) finished the regular season in sixth place with a 5-9 MIAA record.

Trine (14-11, 8-6 MIAA) used a balanced offense with four players scoring in double figures. Guard Langston Johnson led the Thunder with 18 points, including a team-high seven during the first half as Trine built a 31-24 halftime lead.
