Sewanee Men’s Basketball Ends 2020 Campaign at SAA Tournament

ROME, Ga. - The Sewanee men's basketball team was eliminated from the 2020 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Men's Basketball Tournament in the quarterfinal round to the Vikings of Berry College, 77-50, on Sunday from the Cage Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Tigers got out to an 8-4 lead four minutes in the game thanks to a triple by Adrian Thomas.

-After a John Crump 3-pointer to give Sewanee an 11-8 lead, the Vikings went on a 10-2 run to secure the lead for good.

-Sewanee was able to cut the deficit back to two points, 22-20, at the under-four media timeout, but the home team went on a 12-2 run to get the lead to 10 points, 32-22 en route to a 35-25 halftime lead.

-Leading by nine, 44-35, with 14 minutes left in the contest, Berry went on an 18-1 run in a five-minute span to advance to the semifinals next weekend in Danville, Ky. at Centre College, where they will play Hendrix.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Adrian Thomas posted an 8-of-16 day from the floor with 17 points and nine rebounds.

-Jordan Warlick added 13 points and dished out three assists, while Ryan Starr added six dimes.

BERRY KEY STATISTICS
-Berry shot 31-of-54 (57.4%) for the game, led by Austin Brooks with a perfect 11-of-11 day from the floor in 19 bench minutes as he finished with 24 points and six boards.

-DJ Estes added 17 points for the Vikings.
