NEW YORK – The nationally-ranked No. 24 Yeshiva University men's basketball team earned a convincing Skyline victory on Saturday evening, topping Manhattanville College by a score of 100-79, at the Max Stern Athletic Center. With the win, Yeshiva clinches a spot in the upcoming Skyline Conference championships. It marks the sixth straight year that Yeshiva will participate in the Skyline postseason. The Macs' current winning streak reaches 17 games, which ties the longest unbeaten streak in program history.

The Maccabees bump their record to 10-0 in Skyline play, good for first place overall in the conference standings. Manhattanville drops to second place in the Skyline North standings, at 7-3 (12-7 overall).

Senior forward Gabriel Leifer produced his 14th double-double of the season, with 24 points and 16 rebounds, while dishing out four assists, forcing three steals, and blocking two shots. Sophomore guard Ryan Turell led all players with 25 points, while bringing down nine boards. Senior guard Simcha Halpert added 21 points and distributed four assists.

As a team, Yeshiva shot 56.4% from the field and 50.0% from beyond the arc. The Maccabees registered 22 assists as a team.

"Our ball movement was fantastic, tonight," Yeshiva University Head Coach Elliot Steinmetz said. "Spacing and cutting was just efficient, and I thought our shooting percentage was a direct result of that."

The key was an 11-0 run for YU, in the early stages of the first half, that gave the Blue and White a commanding 24-10 advantage. During, and shortly after, that stretch, Yeshiva's defense held Manhattanville to without a field goal for 4:50. Junior forward Caleb Milobsky capped off the Macs' early-game run with a layup, while drawing a foul. He added the free throw to complete the traditional three-point play and put the Maccabees up by 14, with 12:01 left to play in the period.

Later in the half, Turell and freshman guard Ofek Reef each hit a pair of free throws, in back-to-back Yeshiva possessions, to give the home team its largest lead of the half, 43-24, with 3:33 to go. Both teams went into the locker rooms with YU up, 54-40.

The Maccabees came storming out of the gate in the second half, scoring 14 of the period's first 16 points to take a commanding 68-42 hold with 14:32 left to play in regulation time. The highlight of the run was a 3-point field goal courtesy of Leifer.

Yeshiva was able to pad its lead for the majority of the second half. Simcha Halpert connected on two shots from the charity stripe to give the Macs their largest advantage of the evening, 95-59, with 5:56 to go. YU ended up winning the key Skyline game, 100-79.

For the Maccabees, Reef had eight points, three rebounds, a pair of assists, and just as many steals. Milobsky and junior guard Eitan Halpert each scored six points, with the former grabbing two rebounds, and the latter distributing three assists.

The Valiants had balanced scoring, as five players reached double-figures. Sophomore guard Jake Dunn netted a team-high 15 points.

Yeshiva will have a non-conference showdown with perennial NCAA Tournament contender, Williams College, on Monday evening. Tip-off at the John Wesley Chandler Athletic Center is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
