Tommie men sink 17 treys in big road victory

Senior Elijah Hannah scored 24 points and No. 7-ranked Tommie Men's Basketball sank 17 baskets from 3-point range in Saturday's 106-67 win at Gustavus.

The number 53 was wild on Saturday for St. Thomas (17-2 overall, 13-1 MIAC). The Toms scored 53 first-half points and built a 32-point halftime lead, then came back with 53 second-half points. The Toms also received 53 points from starters and 53 bench points. The Purple had only four turnovers and shot 57 percent from the floor.

Coach John Tauer's team secured an MIAC playoff berth for the 21st consecutive season and stayed 1.5 games behind St. John's with six games to go in the championship race.

Tommy Anderson sank four treys and closed with 20 points. Riley Miller added 17 points.

St. Thomas has outscored playoff contenders Augsburg and Gustavus by a combined 207-127 in back-to-back games.

The Toms play at home Wednesday against Hamline.
