Baruch Wins Home Opener, Defeat Gallaudet (80-76)

Adnan Bajrami scored 16 points to pace five double-figure scorers as the Bearcats defeated Gallaudet University, 80-76, on Saturday afternoon in the ARC Arena.

The visiting Bison from Washington, DC took a 35-32 lead at the half and started the second half by jumping out to a 47-40 lead with 13:50 remaining.

After a timeout, the Bearcats rallied by scoring the next 12 points to lead 52-47 following a three by Bajrami with 11:17 left

The Bison responded by scoring the next seven points to jump back ahead, 54-52.

Michael Richards scored on a layup and Allen Villar scored in the paint to take back the lead, 56-54, as the Bearcats would not relinquish that lead en route to winning their home opener.

The biggest difference in the statistics was the 38 points the Bearcats scored off 24 turnovers by the Bison.

The Bison managed to stay in the game, despite the turnovers, by shooting 14-of-29 from three.

Michael Richards (four steals) had 13 points, Emil Pursic scored 12, and Villar and Ryan Graziano had 11 each.

Noah Valencia was tops for the visitors with 20 points (4-of-7 from three).
