Kaneshiro Sets Oxy Single Season Assist Record

LOS ANGELESRyan Kaneshiro set the Oxy men's basketball team's single season assist record, helping lead the Tigers to their best season in 10 years.

With Kaneshiro handling the ball and playing outstanding on ball defense, the Tigers went 22-5 overall, 12-4 in SCIAC and advanced to the SCIAC Championship game before falling to No. 14 Pomona-Pitzer.

Kaneshiro had a total of 163 assists, passing Reiner Kolodinski's 1979-80 season with 154.

On top of leading the SCIAC in assists, the junior from Santa Clarita was outstanding at protecting the ball and rarely turned it over, finishing with the top NCAA Division III assist to turnover ratio at 5.31.

He was also one of the best rebounders in the league, averaging 6.0 rpg which ranked ninth in the league.
