The Nichols College men's basketball team defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology 80-60 Thursday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Tansey Gymnasium.
 
Senior Marcos Echevarria led all student-athletes with 16 points to go along with seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Junior DeAnte Bruton added 13 points, five dimes and four rebounds while freshman Jaekwon Spencer filled the stat sheet with 11 points, seven rebounds, three rebounds and a pair of steals.
 
Stephen Azums paces the Leopards (4-11, 2-5 CCC) with 14 points and 14 boards while Kyle Henseler scored eight points. Wentworth shot 38 percent from the field and knocked down just four of its 19 three-point attempts.
 
The Bison (13-2, 5-1 CCC) held a 45-28 halftime lead behind 12 points behind 12 points from Echevarria and 10 from Spencer, and held a double-digit lead throughout the entire second half. Nichols finished the contest shooting 46 percent.

Three things you need to know...

-Tonight's contest marked the 49th all-time meeting between Nichols College and Wentworth. The Bison have won 11 of the last 12 meetings and lead the series, 27-22.

-Senior Bryce Boggs came off the bench to score a season-high nine points for Nichols.

-The Bison held a 43-37 edge on the glass.
