Men’s Basketball Starts Second Half of SAA Schedule on Right Foot with Victory over BSC

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee men's basketball team took down Birmingham-Southern College to start second half action of Southern Athletic Association play Friday night inside Juhan Gymnasium with a 70-55 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Sewanee got out to a 10-6 lead with 16 minutes left in the opening half. BSC responded with went on a 7-0 run to take the lead, 13-10, in a two-minute span.

-The Tigers responded with a 15-1 run to make it 25-14 with 9:30 left in the period.

-BSC was able to get it to a 10-point deficit, 36-26, late in the first half, but the Purple and Gold kept the lead in double digits, 39-28 at the break.

-The Tigers were able to make the lead as large as 20 in the win, as the program wins their 17th straight home game.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Luke Smith finished the contest with 17 points, eight assists and five steals.

-Cam Caldwell dropped 12 points and swatted away four opposing shots.

-Hunter Buescher went 8-of-8 from the charity stripe en route to an 11-point performance.

-Matt Lee nearly missed a double-double with a 10-rebound, eight-point game.

BIRMINGHAM-SOUTHERN KEY STATISTICS
-Zachary Allison scored 17 points to lead BSC, while Christian Stewart corralled 11 boards.

The Tigers wrap up the weekend homestand Sunday afternoon when Millsaps makes the trek to the Domain. Tip is scheduled for 3 p.m., following the women's game.
