More news about: Oswego State

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's basketball team warded off Potsdam to remain unblemished in SUNYAC action on Tuesday night. A two-point Laker advantage at the half was the difference in a game that was rescheduled from Saturday due to a winter storm.

THE BASICS

  • Result: Oswego 72, Potsdam 70
  • Location: Max Ziel Gymnasium – Oswego, N.Y.
  • Records: Oswego 14-2 (9-0 SUNYAC)  |  Potsdam 9-7 (5-4 SUNYAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lakers' 3-point shooting was instrumental in securing the victory, making 57.1% of their attempts and doubling the made attempts by the Bears (12-6).
  • Oswego's 12 made treys came from the trio of Quinn Carey (5), Liam Sanborn (4) and Brandan Gartland (3). Sanborn was perfect from behind the arc while Gartland misses just one of his attempts.
  • The most crucial 3-pointer came off the hands of Carey with 1:14 remaining to put the Lakers up 70-63. That bucket helped end a more than three minute offensive drought for Oswego.
  • Julien Crittendon had the assist on the 3-point basket and 45 seconds later notched the game-winning layup on an in-bounds pass from Joe Sullivan.
  • The tilt featured nine lead changes and three ties, with Oswego owning the largest lead in the game at 55-46 with 11:39 to play.
  • Sanborn paced all scorers with 20 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the field to accompany a game-high six assists.
  • Carey (15) and Gartland (11) accounted for 26 points while Tyler Pierre rounded the Laker double-figure scorers with 12.
  • Sullivan missed a double-double by just two points, collecting a game-most 10 rebounds to go along with eight points. The junior also led Oswego with four steals on the night, several coming down the stretch in key moments.
