FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's basketball team's stout defensive performance and 47 points off the bench took down Fredonia convincingly, 77-43, on Saturday afternoon to improve to 8-0 for the first time since the 2004-05 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The SUNYAC leader in field goal percentage, Tyler Pierre (66.1%), started the game off for the Lakers with a two-handed slam that led to a 6-0 run and a Fredonia timeout just three minutes in.
• Senior Allen Durutovic provided a boost off the bench for the Laker offense, getting a pair of old school sky hooks to fall in the low post to put them up 18-7 midway through the first half.
• Oswego opened up a 34-12 lead on Fredonia with a 23-5 run over an eight-minute stretch late in the first half with 22 of those points coming from off the bench for the Lakers.
• The Lakers led 39-17 at the break as nine different players scored with a total of 27 bench points for the Lakers. Pierre and Tim Marshall led with seven points apiece.
• Oswego shot 58.3% from the field in the half and held Fredonia to just 20.0% shooting.  The Lakers dominated the boards as well with a 23-8 advantage.
• 2:30 into the second half, Pierre slammed another two-handed dunk with authority off an assist from Joe Sullivan to put the Lakers up 43-19.
• The largest lead of the contest, 70-35, for Oswego came with 2:20 to go from a pair of Ishmael Chisholmfree throws.
• 14 Lakers contributed to the stat sheet in scoring. Marshall led with 10 points on 3-for-4 shooting from the field and 2-for-2 from the charity stripe.  Pierre finished with nine points and grabbed six boards. Liam Sanborn dished out four assists and scored five points.
• Durutovic had a career-best eight points with three rebounds while freshman Michael Krause scored his first collegiate points and finished with five of his own.
• Oswego dominated the battle of the boards, 38-24, with 12 of them coming offensively. They finished shooting 48.3% from the field to Fredonia's 28.8%.
• Oswego's 4-0 SUNYAC record currently has them in sole possession of first place in the conference.

The Lakers return to action at home next Friday as they host non-conference opponent St. Lawrence for a 6 p.m. tip-off and look to get closer to the program record of ten wins to start the season.
