HOBOKEN, N.J. (December 7, 2018)  – The Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball team sank a season-high 11 three-pointers, including eight in the first half, en route to an 84-73 victory over The Catholic University of American Friday in a non-conference game at Canavan Arena.

Senior Ryan Coffey matched a season high with 17 points and sophomore Alec DiPietrantonio finished with nine points and seven rebounds for the Ducks, who won their fourth straight to improve to 7-2. Senior Jayson Winick went a perfect 10-for-10 from the line to match a school record en route to a 15-point performance. The senior guard joins six other players in completing a perfect night from the line (minimum 10 attempts). Ho Tran was the last Duck to achieve the milestone, going 10-for-10 from the line against Maritime in the 1994-95 season.

Jimmy Golaszewski scored a game-high 18 points and Collin Hartmann and Riley Hayes each added 15 for Catholic, who fell to 2-5. The Cardinals have dropped three straight and have now lost to the Ducks in each of the last two seasons.

Hartmann opened the game's scoring with a triple, but Coffey answered with the first of his two threes to tie the game. The early advantage would be the only lead of the game for the visitors. 

Seven of Stevens' first 11 baskets were three-pointers as the Ducks build as much as a 15-point lead in the opening half. Stevens finished with 28 baskets on the evening, with 11 coming from behind the arc. Six different players scored from three-point range, including junior JoJo Mosca, who finished with three.

The game marked the final non-conference game played at Canavan Arena this season.

Pivotal Point

• With a six-point lead at the half, the Ducks went on a 14-3 run to open the second stanza that put the game out of reach.
• DiPietrantonio made a layup in the final seconds of the shot clock to open the second half and Winick made a long three to push the lead back to double figures. Senior Frank Amari assisted on both baskets and finished with four assists.
• Hartman hit a three of his own to temporarily halt the Stevens offense before the Ducks scored three straight baskets in the paint to take a 14-point lead.
• Amari drained a three off a pretty kick-out pass by DiPietrantonio to punctuate the run. The senior guard matched a season-high with 10 points.

Inside the Numbers

• Stevens shot 48 percent from the field, the team's second-highest mark of the season. The Ducks shot a blistering 15-for-27 (55.6%) from the floor in the second half. 
• The Ducks held a 35-31 edge in rebounding and have won the battle of the boards in five straight contests.
• Senior Kevin Florio nabbed a game-high three steals. 
• Stevens turned 15 Catholic turnovers into 22 points. The Cardinals were only able to flip Stevens' 12 turnovers into 11 points. 
• Junior Michael Zignorski matched Mosca's nine points off the bench to help Stevens total a 26-8 advantage in bench points.
• An efficient Stevens offense led to a 34-18 margin in points in the paint.
• The pace of the game led to a season-high 1.183 points per possession.
• Catholic used its 10-9 edge on the offensive glass to produce a 14-10 edge in second-chance points.
• The Ducks did not allow Catholic to record a fast-break point.The Ducks totaled nine.
• Junior John Nutaitis recorded his first points of the season with a second-half layup.

Unsung Hero

• Mosca provided a spark off the bench in the first half, scoring all nine of his points on 3-of-5 shooting, while pulling down four boards, in just 10 minutes. The Somerville, New Jersey native finished the game with nine and five, and was third on the team with a +12.
