Birmingham-Southern Falls at LaGrange 80-67

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team dropped its final game of the LaGrange College Wingate Classic on Sunday evening, falling to the host LaGrange Panthers 80-67.

The two teams battled back-and-forth for the entire first half, culminating in a tie at the halftime break, 39-39.

However, in the second half, LaGrange went on a big run midway through the half to jump out to a 12-point lead with 7:19 remaining. The home team kept its lead for the remainder of the game, hitting a layup in the final 20 seconds to give the hosts the final 80-67 lead.

Junior guard Calvin Bak (Muscle Shoals, Ala./Muscle Shoals HS) led Birmingham-Southern with 17 points. Three other Panthers scored in double-digits, including 12-point performances by Ben Spence (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) and Zachary Allison (Pelham, Ala./Wallace State CC). Spence earned a double-double, leading the team in assists with five and rebounds with 18, a career high for the sophomore.

With the loss, the Panthers fall to 4-2 on the year. Birmingham-Southern's next game will be at Pensacola Christian on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
