ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount University men's basketball team rode a balanced offensive effort and strong defense to a 73-55 victory over Bridgewater (Va.) College on Tuesday night at the Converse Family Fieldhouse.

The Saints found themselves down early, after the Eagles started the game on a 10-2 run in the first six minutes.

However, junior Ibrahim Kamara knocked down two free throws, sparking a 13-1 spurt to flip the script over the next several minutes.

The Saints continually got to the rim, as two layups from junior Taiga Walker and one each from junior LaDarius McCord and sophomore Steve Etienne helped grab a 15-11 lead at the 8:19 mark of the first half.

Marymount was able to pull away late in the first, taking a 34-26 edge into halftime. After being tied, 22-22, Kamara hit two more foul shots, and the Saints' attacking style paid off, as three-point plays from Kamara and freshman Roey Stern, along with layups from McCord and Etienne fueled the late run.

At the break, Kamara led with 10 points, while the team was shooting 39.3% from the field.

Senior Brandon Rogers connected from long range to start things off in the second half, as the Saints continued to hold their lead through the opening minutes of the period.

McCord drained another three, before Etienne hit a jumper to push the lead to 18, 50-32.

The lead got pushed to 20 with just under seven minutes to go, as Stern scored a layup, and the Saints controlled the game from there for the win.

Marymount finished the game shooting 45.6 percent from the floor, as five Saints scored in double-digits. Kamara led the way with 13, while McCord added 12 off the bench. Junior Ryan Albert (10 points), Walker (11), and Rogers (10) continued the balanced attack.

Kamara also led with eight rebounds, while Walker and Rogers dished out four assist, each.

The Saints will hit the court next on Sunday, November 25, hosting No. 15 Johns Hopkins University at the Converse Family Fieldhouse; the opening tip is set for 2 p.m.
