Chimaechi Ekekeugbor Earns Five All-Star Recognition Awards, Including All-Met Co-Player of Year

Senior Forward Chimaechi Ekekeugbor has been honored once again for his outstanding 2017-18 season with the Bearcats by being voted as the Division III Co-Player of the Year by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
 
The awards do not stop there as the native of Matawan, New Jersey was also voted this season as a D3hoops.com First Team Atlantic Region All-Star, First Team All ECAC, and was previously selected as the CUNYAC MVP.
 
Chima was also honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) as a NABC Second Team All-American and was selected to play in the prestigious 2018 Reese's NABC Div. III All-Star Game in Salem, Virginia this past March 17 (played 18 minutes, 13 points, 6-14fg, 6 rebounds, 3 assists). Regionally, he was named a First Team Atlantic Region All-Star with the NABC.
 
During the 2017-2018 season, Chima averaged 18.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. He totaled 15 double-doubles in those 24 games.
 
He broke the men's basketball all-time scoring record (1,573 points) on Saturday, November 25, 2017, with 28 points against Mary Washington. He finished his career as Baruch's men's basketball all-time scoring leader with 2,000 points.
 
Nicknamed Chima, he along with all the top team honorees on the NCAA Division I, II and III levels, will be honored at the 85th Annual NIT/MBWA All-Met Haggerty Awards Dinner Awards on Wednesday, April 25 in Tarrytown, New York.
