Pipers Steamroll Cardinals, 87-53

The Hamline men's basketball team jumped to an 11-0 lead in the first two minutes of play and never looked back en route to an 87-53 victory over St. Mary's Saturday at Hutton Arena. 13 different Pipers scored, led by Dylan See-Rockers' 16 points and Lucas Berg, who registered a career high 14. The win brought the Pipers back to the .500 mark overall at 8-8 and improved their MIAC totals to 4-7. 

TC Robinson got the ball rolling with a pair of three-pointers in tjh first 50 seconds of play. See-Rockers converted a layup and Zach Smith with a three-pointer. The closest the Cardinals could get after that was seven points. HU head coach Jim Hayes used his entire bench with Isaac Brooks gaining the most playing time at 21 minutes. Brooks and Smith scored nine points each. Michael Dillon and Nick Powell came off the bench to lead Hamline in rebounds with six apiece. Smith added five assists and nine different players had at least one theft as part of a 11-steal game. 

Hamline was consistent from the field, shooting 51.7 per cent in the first half and 51.4 in the second. 

This is the start of a busy stretch for Hamline. On Monday, January 22, they travel to Moorhead to face Concordia in a 7:00 p.m. showdown. HU returns home to face league leader St. John's on Wednesday, January 24 at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, January 27, they are at St. Thomas for a 1:00 p.m. game.
