Bridgewater Rallies Past Guilford, 67-66, For ODAC Road Win

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Dimetri Chambers scored a game-best 17 points as Bridgewater College rallied for a 67-66 win at Guilford College on Saturday afternoon. 

The Quakers fell to 7-8 and 3-3 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action. The Eagles improved to 9-6 (3-3 ODAC)

Guilford led most of the first half, but the Eagles (9-6, 3-3 ODAC) used a 12-2 run over the final 4:14 of the frame to knot the game at 38-38 at halftime.

The Quakers (7-8, 3-3 ODAC) led most of the second half as well, but the Eagles regained the lead with 2:40 remaining after two free throws by Ken Stanciel. They never trailed again.

Guilford's Carson Long made a three-pointer with 1:05 left in the contest to push the score to 67-66. The Quakers had three possessions to retake the lead, including one capped by an off-balance Long shot as time expired.

Long led the Quakers with 16 points. He shot 6-of-10 from the floor, including four three-pointers, and had eight rebounds. Marcus Curry and Alston Thompson both added nine points for Guilford. 

Chambers (7-14 FG, 3 3pt FG) paced three Eagles who scored in double figures. Davrion Grier and Stanciel tallied 11 and 10 points, respectively for the visitors. 

Bridgewater shot 50 percent (25-50) for the game, to Guilford's 44 percent (23-52). The Quakers led in rebounding, 35-26, but Bridgewater had the edge in three-point baskets (10-7) and bench points (28-17).

The Quakers play at ODAC-rival Roanoke College Wednesday (1/16). Game time is 7 p.m.
