Guilford Evens ODAC Mark With 74-58 Men's Hoops Win at Eastern Mennonite

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Alston Thompson scored a game-high 17 points and teammate Marcus Curry added 16 in Guilford College's 74-58 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball win at Eastern Mennonite University Saturday.

Curry netted 11 of his points in the opening half, which sparked the Quakers (6-7, 2-2 ODAC) to a 45-27 halftime lead. Guilford shot 51.4 percent from the floor and made six-of-11 (54.5%) three-pointers. Jarrod Rogers' layup with 11:56 left in the first half opened an 18-5 margin and back-to-back Will Leckonby threes gave the Quakers a 43-23 edge 2:40 before the break.

The Royals (5-7, 0-4 ODAC) outscored Guilford in the second half, 31-29, but never threatened.

Carson Long posted a double-double for the Quakers with 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Guilford dominated on the glass, outrebounding the hosts by a 47-27 margin. Kyler Gregory chipped in 12 points and seven boards off the bench. Curry collected eight rebounds and Thompson finished with six. Rogers distributed a game-high eight assists.

RaShawn Latimer's 16 points paced Eastern Mennonite, which shot 40.4% from the floor and 29.2% from three-point range. Tim Jones added 11 points for the Royals. Teammate Isaiah Harris-Winn added nine points and seven rebounds.

Coach Tom Palombo's Quakers return home to host Randolph College Wednesday (1/13) in a 7:00 pm game in the Ragan-Brown Field House.
