CENTRAL COMES FROM BEHIND TO DEFEAT RAMAPO 74-69

LAS VEGAS, NV: The Ramapo College men's basketball team lost to the Central College Dutch (Iowa), 74-69, in the final game of the D3Hoops.com Classic. The Roadrunners move to 9-3 overall while the Dutch improve to 4-7.

The Roadrunners got off to a hot start, going on an 18-2 run through the first nine minutes of the game. Tom Bonacum led the rush with 15 points on 6-of-6 shooting as well as both his free throw attempts made. Josh Ford and Nick Stanek also added seven points each.

However, the Dutch closed the large deficit with the three ball as Seth Wood hit two, while Malik Wildermuth, Luke Finley, and Caden Mauck all hit one. Wood and Mauck led the Dutch with eight points in the half. Central would cut the lead to seven as the Roadrunners went into the locker room up, 40-33, at the half.

As the second half got under way, Central went on a run as the Roadrunners fought to hang onto the lead. However, a three pointer from Kyle Smith tied it up. The Dutch would take the lead with just over eight minutes to play. The Roadrunners fought back to bring the game within two as Patrick Peterson banked a running shot. But, Central hit their free throw on intentional fouls, and the Roadrunners eventually lost by five.

Bonacum finished with a season-high and game-high 21 points as he shot 9-for-16 (56%) from the field. He also had a team-high eight rebounds. Stanek finished with 13 points while Ford and Peterson had 11 and 10 points respectively.

Smith led Central with 20 points with Wood added 15, and Wildermuth had 12. With the win, the Dutch picked up their first win against a ranked opponent this season.

The Roadrunners return to action back in New Jersey when they take on the Rutgers-Camden University Scarlet Raptors at the Bradley Center on Jan. 3 at 7:30 p.m.
