Rose-Hulman sidesteps Black and Gold

TERRE HAUTE, IND. – Manchester University's acumen for a balanced scoring sheet continued Saturday, Dec. 16.

Coach Gerad Good's side put 10 players in the point column inside Rose-Hulman's Hulbert Arena. Junior guard Adrian Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind.), registering his 15th straight double-digit outing, topped the charts with 22 points. He backed up his 10-of-15 shooting performance from the field with three rebounds, five assists and a steal. A pair of Spartans coming off the bench over the 40 minutes, junior guard David Stinson (Aurora, Ill.) and senior guard/forward Kenny Doss, Jr., (Chicago, Ill.), were next in line with eight and seven points, respectively.

Even with those pluses, it wasn't quite enough to ensure MU ending a six-game skid. The host Fightin' Engineers used a 22-8 stretch that began with just over 10 minutes to go in the second frame to slip past their guests 77-72.

Manchester University (1-8 overall, 0-4 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) breaks from competition until the weekend of Friday and Saturday, Dec. 29 and 30. They travel to Atlanta, Ga., the weekend after Christmas to join the field of the Oglethorpe University Holiday Inn Express and Suites tournament.
