MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Feb. 24, 2017) – Three starters in double figures led the Sewanee men's basketball team to an 87-61 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament quarterfinal win over Hendrix, Friday, on the campus of Rhodes College.

The Tigers advance to play host Rhodes at 4:00 p.m., Saturday in Memphis, Tenn. The Lynx had little trouble against Millsaps topping the Majors 106-79 on Friday.

With the win, Sewanee is now 15-11 overall. This is the third straight 15-win season for the Tigers.

The score was close until the second media timeout of the first half. A layup by senior Brody Stone was part of a 20-5 run by the purple and gold over the next eight minutes. Leading by 10, 29-19, late in the first half, a three by Leo Born sparked another spurt by Sewanee. Eventually, after a Hunter Buescher layup with seven seconds left, Sewanee led by 12, 38-26, at halftime.

Out the locker room, Sewanee pulled away. Four straight points by freshman Adrian Thomas pushed the lead to 16. From there, the Tigers never looked back. A three by freshman Jonny Crumly gave Sewanee its largest advantage, 31 points, with 2:54 to play.

Led by its offense, Sewanee made a season-high 62.7 percent of its shots. That included a season-high 57.1 percent of the Tigers' three-point attempts.

Individually, Thomas was again at his best against Hendrix. The first-year forward finished with 17 points and eight rebounds. Stone added 10 points and six boards while Jorden Williams finished with 12 points and five assists.

SAA Player of the Year Hank Aldous led Hendrix with 23 points on 8-of-18 shooting.
