BABSON PARK, Mass.—Senior Joey Flannery (Acton, Mass.) poured in 36 points and top-ranked Babson College used a 26-3 run midway through the second half on its way to defeating visiting Springfield College, 95-77, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's basketball action on Wednesday night at Staake Gymnasium.

With its 12th straight win, Babson is now 21-1 overall and 11-0 in conference play, while Springfield slips to 11-11 overall and 5-6 in the NEWMAC.

Flannery matched his career high with seven three-pointers and tied for game-high honors with 10 rebounds for the Beavers. Junior Nick Comenale (New York Mills, N.Y.) scored 18 of his 21 points in the second half, classmate Bradley Jacks (Fort Washington, Md.) contributed 12 points and 10 boards, and senior Charlie Rice (Barnstable, Mass.) added 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting.

First-year Jake Ross (Northampton, Mass.) finished with 25 points, seven rebounds and five assists, while junior Andy McNulty (West Springfield, Mass.) went 6-of-9 from beyond the arc and scored 22 points for the Pride.

Trailing 52-47 with 14:57 left in the contest, the Green and White ripped off a 26-3 run over the next seven minutes to build a 16-point lead. Flannery converted a three-point play, Comenale tied the game with a pair of free throws and then followed a triple by Rice with a driving layup to take a 57-52 lead. Senior Sam Bohmiller (Franklin, Mass.) scored off a backdoor feed from Flannery and Comenale buried a pair of three-pointers before senior Isaiah Nelsen (North Andover, Mass.) went 2-of-2 at the charity stripe to extend the advantage to 73-57 with 7:42 left.

The Pride got as close as 12 on a three-point play by first-year Anthony Reynolds (Springfield, Mass.) with 6:19 to go, but the Beavers responded by scoring on seven of their next nine possessions, including five triples, to push their margin to as many as 22 in the closing minutes.

Babson led 40-39 at the break in an opening half that featured seven ties and two lead changes. Flannery and Jacks combined to score the Beavers' first 18 points, and the hosts took their biggest lead of the period at 31-23 behind consecutive triples from Flannery before the Pride answered back with a 16-9 run to get within one on a late three-pointer by McNulty.

The Green and White shot 50.8 percent for the game and was 15-of-29 of from distance (51.7 percent). The Beavers also finished with a 37-28 edge on the glass and turned nine Springfield turnovers into 18 points.

The Pride shot 45.9 percent overall and 52.2 percent (12-of-23) from three-point range.

Both teams return to action on Saturday as Babson travels to Clark at 3 p.m., while Springfield will take on Emerson in a 7 p.m. tipoff at UMass Boston.

GAME NOTES
•    The Beavers are now 22-38 all-time against Springfield, and have won seven straight and eight of their last nine against the Pride.
•    Babson, which is the first team in NEWMAC history to start league play 11-0, extended Division III's longest conference winning streak to 22 with Wednesday's victory.
•    The Beavers are 8-0 this season and have won 33 straight games when shooting better than 50 percent.
•    Flannery has recorded three straight double-doubles and is now up to 17 for his career.
