BSC Upends Hendrix 67-54, Moves to Third in SAA

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern men's basketball team downed Hendrix University 67-54 in a full team effort Sunday afternoon in Bill Battle Coliseum.  BSC is now 11-11 overall.  The win moved the Panthers into third place ahead of Hendrix in the Southern Athletic Association with a 7-4 record.

 

Harrison Deneka (Memphis, Tenn./Christian Brothers HS) led with his third 20+ point game of the season. He tied a season-high with 24 points. Alex Perkins (Gadsden, Ala./Westbrook Christian School) also finished in double-figures with 10 points of his own.

 

BSC led 33-25 at the break. Hendrix would pull within one with 10 minutes to play.  But the Panthers responded with a 10-2 run to push ahead 56-46 with seven minutes remaining and would not relinquish the lead.

 

BSC heads for its last conference road trip of the season next.  They take Oglethorpe University on Friday, Feb. 10 and then face Berry on Sunday, Feb. 12.
