Midulla Scores 17, Adams Adds 16 for R-MC Men's Basketball at H-SC

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. - Sophomore Grayson Midulla (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) scored 17 points and sophomore Montese Adams (Richmond, Va./Fuqua) had 16 points and seven rebounds as the Randolph-Macon men's basketball team dropped a 63-56 decision at Hampden-Sydney in ODAC action Wednesday evening.

The Yellow Jackets (14-6, 10-1 ODAC) had their 11-game win streak snapped in suffering their first conference loss.

Senior Michael Taylor (Apex, N.C./Grace Christian) made a layup and junior Daniel Noe (Fairfax, Va./Bishop Ireton) hit a three-pointer as R-MC took a quick 5-2 lead. The Tigers (8-12, 4-7 ODAC) used a 6-1 run to go ahead 8-6 with 15:15 left in the first half. Midulla hit three free throws to give the Yellow Jackets a 9-8 lead before H-SC scored 13 straight to build a 21-9 lead with 6:15 remaining. The lead for the Tigers grew to 14 at 25-11 before Midulla hit three treys in a 12-5 spurt as the visitors pulled within seven at 30-23 with just under one minute left. H-SC hit a layup just before the buzzer to take a 32-23 lead at the break. Midulla led all scorers with 12 points.

The Tigers started the second half on a 7-1 run to take their largest lead at 39-24 with 18:15 left. Adams had six points in a 13-4 spurt as the Yellow Jackets pulled within six at 43-37 with 12:20 remaining. Midulla hit another three-pointer and junior Jermaine Johnson (Akron, Ohio/St. Christopher) sank a pair of free throws as R-MC narrowed the gap to three at 45-42 with 9:36 left. Noe made a layup and Adams had a follow to make it a two-point game at 50-48 with 5:52 left. H-SC closed the game on a 13-8 run to claim the 63-56 victory.

Midulla hit five field goals, four behind the arc. Adams went 7 for 8 from the floor and hit both his three-point attempts.

Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 4 for a 2 p.m. ODAC contest at Randolph.
