10 Saints Score in 69-53 Road Win at Bethany

(BETHANY, W.Va.) – Thomas More College moves to 14-6 overall and 10-3 in the President Athletic Conference (PAC) as they beat Bethany College, 69-53, tonight (February 1, 2017) in Bethany, West Virginia.

The Saints had 10 players reach the scoring column tonight and looking at the scoring column you can tell the Saints were all about sharing the ball tonight. The Saints finished the game with a total of 14 assists on 24 made baskets. The leading scorer for the Saints was sophomore center Junior Stockwell (Florence, Ky./Boone County), who finished the game with 11 points and five rebounds. Along with Stockwell, senior guard Sawyer Pauly (Crescent Springs, Ky./Covington Catholic) finished the game with 10 points and six assists. Looking at the scoring column for the Saints there were multiple players who could have easily reached double-digits tonight as sophomore guard Ryne Callahan (Morehead, Ky./Rowan County) finished with nine points and junior center Simon Clifford (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual) finished with eight points.

Talking with player of the game, Junior Stockwell, we asked what he thought about the team's performance tonight and he told us, "It was a great team effort overall, we played TMC men's basketball. We never gave up and brought intensity for all 40 minutes."

The Bison of Bethany College had seven players reach the scoring column tonight. Finishing with the game high in points tonight was Andrew Williams with 21 points as was five-of-nine from three-point land. Along with Williams, Calique Jones finished with 18 points.

Talking with head Coach Drew Cooper after the game we asked what he thought about his team's performance on the road tonight and he told us, "It was one of those nights that I didn't think either team played exceptionally well, so it was going to come down to who could make some plays. Fortunately, we had some young men perform timely enough to deliver a very good road victory for us."

Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (February 4) when it travels to Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to play Geneva College at 2 p.m.
