Farmingdale State Improves to 11-0 in Skyline

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team won their 11th straight game tonight with an 80-75 victory over Maritime. The Rams improved to 15-5 overall and 11-0 in the Skyline, while the Privateers dropped to 8-10, 3-6.

In the first, Farmingdale held Maritime to 24-percent shooting from the field, as they hit just 2-of-14 from long range. The Rams built up an 11-point lead at the half, led by senior forward Weldon Irvine's (Queens, N.Y.) 14 points and nine rebounds.

Farmingdale State led by as much as 16 points in the second, holding the 60-44 advantage with 11:30 remaining to play. Over the next two and a half minutes, the Rams were called for five fouls as the Privateers went 7-for-7 from the charity stripe and outscored FSC 17-1 to tie the game at 61-61.

The teams traded leads over the next four minutes before the Rams grabbed a 72-71 edge with 4:48 left in regulation. Maritime cut the deficit to one point twice, but Farmingdale State held on to keep their win streak alive.

Irvine finished with 18 points and 14 points to lead Farmingdale State. Junior guard Trey Kinard (Deer Park, N.Y.) and sophomore guard Matthew Graham (Valley Stream, N.Y.) each scored 17 points. Sophomore guard Ali Mableton (Brentwood, N.Y.) scored 11 points. The Rams shot a season-high 87-percent (20-23) at the free throw line.

For Maritime, junior center Patrick MacDonald (Buffalo, N.Y.) posted game-highs of 26 points and 16 rebounds. Senior guard Tim Hoch (Coventry, R.I.) finished with 21 points.

FSC next will play host to Mount Saint Vincent on Saturday, February 4th at Noon.
