MEDFORD – With six different players in double digits and a career-high 20 points from junior Thomas Lapham the No. 4 Tufts men's basketball team picked up a 113-74 win over visiting Newbury College in Cousens Gym Thursday night.  The Jumbos have now scored 100 plus in back-to-back games.

The win moves the Jumbos overall record to 16-2 as they remain 6-0 in NESCAC play.  Newbury falls to 1-15 overall with the setback, and they are 1-8 in NECC play.  The 113 points is the most for the Jumbos since they scored 113 against D'Youville at the Chuck Resler Tournament at Rochester back during the 2013-14 season.

It was the Nighthawks that came out and posted an early lead as Davion Edwards scored five points and Jeduan Langston added two to give the visitors the 7-2 lead. Freshman Patrick Racy scored the first Jumbo points and junior KJ Garrett followed that with five of his own. Sophomore Ethan Feldman sunk a three, and a free throw from junior Vincent Pace tied the game at 11 with just over 14 minutes to go in the half.

Back-to-back threes from Lapham and Feldman gave the Jumbos the lead and they wouldn't let up from there.  With just over 11 minutes remaining in the half, Langston scored two for the Nighthawks, but then the Jumbos scored 12 unanswered points, all from behind the arc to take a 34-16 lead they would hold on to.  At the half the Jumbos had taken 21 shots from downtown and made 11 of them with three each from Pace, Lapham and Feldman.

The second half was much like the first, as the Jumbos were able to maintain their lead and pick up the 113-74 win.  Lapham was the scoring leader with 20, which by far surpasses his previous career high of 12 which he scored against Plymouth State back during his freshman year.  Feldman added 14, junior Everett Dayton and Pace 12 each, and Garrett and junior Kene Adigwe each tallied 11. Garrett had a team-high nine rebounds and Dayton added seven.  Eleven different players finished with an assist on the evening, including five from Garrett and four from Lapham. The Jumbos were 19-for-38 from downtown on the evening and shot 53.2 percent from the field on the evening.

For the Nighthawks Langston turned in a double-double with a game-high 33 points and 10 rebounds.  Edwards helped with 17 points and Kayvon Murray and Joshua Oliver each scored six. Murray and Ceejae Carter both pulled down six boards each, and Carter finished with three assists.

The Jumbos hit the road to play again on Saturday with a trip up to Bates for a 3 pm start.  Newbury takes the court again on Saturday with a trip to Becker for a 1 pm start.
