FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College men's basketball team fell 73-68 to visiting Lycoming in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action.

• Jared Ruiz came off the bench to lead the Blazers with 13 points, hitting 3 of 7 from 3-point range. 
• Scott Bolen added a dozen points. 
• Luke Casey shot a perfect 4 for 4 in the game, including three 3-pointers, on his way to 11 points. 
• Trevor Magnuski led Hood with seven rebounds and seven assists. 

How it Happened

• The teams traded basket-for-basket in the first half with 13 lead changes and five ties in the opening 20 minutes. All of Casey's points came in the first half as Hood (13-5, 5-4) shot 64 percent from the field and went 7 of 13 from 3-point range. The Warriors were able to keep pace thanks to nine offensive rebounds and an 11-5 edge in turnovers, resulting in a 45-45 deadlock at the break. 
• The second half featured more of the same with 10 more ties or lead changes. Lycoming (16-2, 8-1) appeared to be building a lead after TJ Duckett hit a 3-pointer for a 60-54 lead with 13:28 to play. The Blazers, however, rattled off seven straight points, going ahead 61-60 on a Michael Robinson layup two minutes later. 
• Hood would lead 66-65 after two Michael Riley free throws with 8:01 on the clock, but single free throws by Chris Wallace and Willie Kee over the next minute and 45 seconds reclaimed the advantage for the Warriors. The Blazers' hot shooting from the first half cooled and the Blazers scored just two more points in regulation. 

Notes

• Alex Newbold led Lycoming with 14 points on 7 of 11 shooting. Duckett hit four 3-pointers and ended the day with 13 points. Wallace grabbed 11 rebounds. 
• It was just the fourth time all season Hood was outrebounded in a game, as the Warriors had a 41-34 advantage on the glass. 
• With the win, Lycoming took a three-game lead in the MAC Commonwealth standings. Despite the loss, Hood is still tied for second. Albright, Alvernia and Lebanon Valley join the Blazers at 5-4 in the league standings.
