POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (January 13, 2017) — Freshman guard Hunter Gettings poured in a career-high 16 points, as the Vassar College men's basketball team (5-9, 1-5 Liberty) fell to Clarkson University (7-7, 2-3 Liberty) at the Athletics & Fitness Center on Friday, 76-60.

"Hunter plays with a ton of effort, energy and intensity," coach B.J. Dunne said. "He's our best guy getting downhill. He makes simples moves, and he's able to go by. He's done a really good job, and it wasn't surprising. We knew he was due, and we know he's capable of continuing to do this."

Gettings, who connected on three of his first four triples, was one of four Brewers to reach double figures in the scoring column. Alex Seff added 14 points and seven rebounds, Mason Dyslin tallied 11 points, seven boards and fives assists, and Mickey Adams posted 10 points and six rebounds.

The Brewers shot 37 percent from the floor and 24 percent (6-of-25) from deep, while their visitors shot 50 and 40 percent (8-of-20), respectively.

Derek Hart led the Golden Knights with 26 points and 12 boards, while Drew Zlogar contributed 18 points and Mike Hayduk finished with 15.

The Golden Knights got off to a fast start, taking a 10-1 lead within the first three minutes. Seff put the Brewers on the board with back-to-back layups. For the second finger roll, Dyslin bounced a gem through traffic for Seff to hook it in on the right side, 12-5.

Adams began to heat up from there, scoring three of the next four field goals for Vassar — a layup, a triple and another layup, which pulled Vassar within 19-15.

Tony Caletti pulled the Brewers even closer with back-to-back buckets to make it a one-point game, 24-23. For his first basket, he drained three-pointer from Dyslin, and for his second, he weaved through the lane for an up-and-under layup

That was the closest the Brewers came to flipping the lead, as the Golden Knights took a 39-30 lead into break.

Vassar closed the gap to as little as six in the second half, as Gettings flicked in a three from the top of the key to make it a 41-35 ballgame, but Clarkson slowly crept its lead to double figures from there.

Vassar concludes Alumni Weekend on Saturday, Jan. 14, welcoming St. Lawrence University to the Athletics & Fitness Center for a 4 p.m. tilt.
