John Jay Knocks Off Baruch (74-60)

The Baruch College Bearcats lost 74-60 to the Bloodhounds of John Jay College of Criminal Justice in a CUNYAC contest on Monday night.

The game at 'The Doghouse' featured two different halves.

In the first half, the visiting Bearcats went on a 24-11 run to overturn an early deficit into a halftime lead of 31-27. 

The second half proved different as the Bloodhounds stormed out of the locker room with a run of their own of 23-11 for a 50-42 advantage nine minutes into the half.  

The Bearcats kept battling and managed to get as close as 53-48 with 7:10 remaining, but the Bloodhounds responded by scoring 12 of the next 14 points to put the game out of reach.


Bryler Paige led the Bearcats this evening with a season-high 16 points. Chimaechi Ekekeugbor recorded his eighth double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while George Smyth, Jr. rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11 points on a perfect 5-of-5 from the field.

Wyatt Harkins led the Bloodhounds to their first CUNYAC win of the season with 22 points.

The Bearcats will hit the road again on Wednesday, January 11, with a 7:15 p.m. conference contest at Brooklyn College.
